Praia do Tonel is a beach near Sagres. The waves can get quite big here, which makes the beach very popular among surfers. There is plenty of parking space on either side of the road leading down to this beach.

Praia do tonel sits on the southwesterly tip of Portugal alongside the town of Sagres. It is a 40 minute drive west from Lagos. The Fortaleza de Sagres (Sagress fortress) sits on the cliff tops above Praia do tonel and is a great location that over looks the beach. The coordinates to the beach are 37.005719, -8.947771.
When is the best time to visit Praia do Tonel?
Portugals west coast isn’t known for having very warm water, and temperatures may still feel a bit cold in early summer. We reccomend July to September which are the warmest months, meaning the water temperatures will be at their wamest during that time.
